Road Murals

Across North America, neighbours have come together to paint murals - right on the road! The idea was born in Portland Oregon, and has now spread to cities from coast to coast.

The idea is simple: Road murals are a great way to slow down traffic, make the road safer and also to engage neighbours in a creative process to beautify the community and build stronger connections.

OttawaHalifaxVancouver and Kitchener have all created official street mural programs that allow communities to legally paint murals on their roads. Beginning in 2016, road murals are now allowed in Toronto too! Following the wild success of the recent Regal Heights Road Mural, FOUR road murals were painted as a pilot project during 2016.
